I have always been interested in hypnosis. It’s a bit of a mystery to believe that a hypnotist could control someone and make them do whatever the hypnotist wanted.

My first experience seeing a hypnotist was when a friend invited me to attend a Rotary dinner where the guest speaker was a hypnotist. The hypnotist had an assistant who he put into a trance.

She went back to her childhood, and it was fascinating to watch. I was hooked on learning more about hypnosis and how it works. I firmly believe in the power of hypnosis after seeing it firsthand. I was also once hosting an event for the Shropshire Farmers Dinners Club, where we invited a guest speaker to come and address the group.

For my event, I decided to bring in a hypnotist. Our members were self–motivated and focused individuals, not the ideal subject for hypnosis. Nevertheless, the hypnotist still puts them into a trance and performs some awe-inspiring feats.

I was fascinated by what I saw that night and talked to the hypnotist about his craft. I left feeling convinced that hypnosis is a real and powerful phenomenon.

Self-hypnosis

My daughter and son-in-law were attending a self-hypnosis course, so I decided to tag along. I participated in a weekend course on self-hypnosis with them from Friday to Sunday.

During the course, I learned how to enter into a deep state of relaxation and focus my mind on positive affirmations. On a Sunday evening, I was lying on my back with my son-in-law sitting on my stomach.

I was as rigid as a board, and he had a nappy pin stuck through my forearm. There was no bleeding or pain. I had learned self-hypnosis. In hypnosis, you are very much aware and in control.

Even more in control than you are when you’re not in hypnosis. That’s why it’s such a powerful tool. You can use it to achieve all sorts of things, from quitting smoking to losing weight. If you can imagine it, you can probably do it while in hypnosis. That’s why it’s such an amazing skill to learn.

Back in Australia, I took a hypnosis course from Tom Johnson and Margaret Kelly. Johnson has passed away, but Kelly has had a very successful career as a hypnotherapist. The course taught me the basics of hypnosis, but I learned it when I started practicing it.

As a hypnotherapist, I am always looking for ways to increase my knowledge and improve my skills. I have attended many courses, and each has taught me something new.

In particular, I have found past life regression to be a very powerful tool. I have been able to help many clients resolve problems that they are experiencing in this life by taking them back to a past life that is relevant to their situation.

The results that I have been able to achieve are truly amazing. I could write a book about the results. One of the most influential courses I took was the first Judith Richards course.

This course helped me develop my ability to work with clients dealing with stress. Overall, I am constantly striving to expand my horizons and deepen my understanding of hypnotherapy to serve my clients better.

I have studied under many accomplished hypnotherapists in my career, but the one who has had the most significant influence on my work is Jack Mason. Jack can help clients tap into their deep subconscious minds to face surgery and other medical procedures with courage and confidence.

I use his techniques often in my practice, as they are highly effective in helping people to let go of negative emotions from their past. It allows them to live more fully in the present moment and to move forward in their lives with hope and purpose.

I am grateful to have had the opportunity to study under such a master practitioner and to be able to use his methods to help my clients heal and thrive.
